About

The Nueva Current is the student newspaper of The Nueva School, written, designed, and produced by students in the year-long Upper School journalism elective. Students pitch stories and work with the journalism adviser and teacher to produce each issue. There are six print issues produced each school year. The Current is open to publishing pieces submitted by guest writers and contributors.

Subscribe to receive all six print issues mailed (2025-2026 school year) to your home address!

Old print issues can be found in our online archive.

Our Mission

The Current is dedicated to providing students a platform for sharing stories and experiencing events from their peers’ perspectives.

For this reason, all students are encouraged to suggest content to the site via the Contact page. Approved content is published on the site and shared with the community.

History

The Nueva Current was  originally a small news website. Today, it has grown to an official school newspaper, providing members of the Nueva community with articles, updates, and opinion pieces. Although it started in 2016 as a news source with only one member, the paper was officially founded as a student publication in the fall of 2017. With a staff of less than a dozen members, they put out their first-ever print issue. Now, The Current has six editors and almost two dozen staff and contributors, and we welcome submissions to grow our contributing members!
