Nueva Hosts STEM Fair at Bay Meadows Campus
On the 19th of March, Nueva hosted a STEM fair at its Bay Meadows campus in San Mateo. The fair showcased student research and projects, and featured school programs to draw in prospective families.
Students in classes like EPIC, Physiology, and 9th grade Foundations of Science courses presented projects that they had been working on throughout the semester. Upper and Middle School teachers’ workshops and presentations included Science Rap Academy and HIV research that they had been doing.
Student posters included a variety of topics, including spherification at different pH levels, developing film at different temperatures, the effects of red wine on heart rate, and the effect of pH on the Maillard reaction—a chemical reaction resulting in the browning of food. The boards presenting the projects were arranged in a huge layout, separated by class, that sprawled across the gymnasium.
Children of all ages explored booths containing everything from virtual reality experiences to a pulley system brought by a Lower School teacher. Everyone attending came excited to share their passions, making the STEM fair a truly remarkable experience.
